Calculator
Change coffee or ratio to get water; change water to get coffee. 1 g of water ≈ 1 ml.
Steps
- Fill the bottom chamber with hot water up to the safety valve.
- Fill the basket with coffee, level it, do not tamp.
- Screw the pot together (use a towel; it is hot) and place on medium-low heat with the lid open.
- When coffee flows honey-colored and starts to gurgle, remove from heat.
- Cool the base under running water to stop extraction.
Common mistakes
- Tamping the coffee: pressure builds dangerously and extraction is bitter.
- High heat: coffee spurts and tastes burnt.
These are starting points. Adjust grind first, then ratio, one change at a time.
